AHSPG is thrilled to announce that the first piece of public art has been installed in their Urban Aboriginal Community! Damian John created this spectacular piece inspired by the word “Lheidli”. Damian is an artist from Tl’azt’en First Nation who spent his formative years split between Prince George and the village of Tache. The piece is titled Sulhutsineh ink’s Sulhutusneh Njan Lhenaohudulh (Brothers and Sisters Gather Here). The piece is located at 1965 17th Avenue on the northwest corner of a 3-storey building that will be home to Indigenous Elders and seniors at risk of homelessness.
“I tried to capture the act of reverence and our connection to all beings, a beautiful and complex web which, when tended to, is truly spectacular… It’s my hope that this piece helps infuse the area with colour, kindness, and a wish to hold this world and our time in it as precious.”
