Artist - Leo Hebert
Leo Hebert is of Cree, Stoney, French, and Scottish ancestry and is affiliated with the Sawridge First Nation in Slave Lake, Alberta.. He and his family have been guests on the unceded lands of the Dakelh Lheidli T’enneh people in Prince George, BC, since 1967. Leo is a descendant of survivors of residential school and has been impacted by multi-generational trauma as a result of the genocidal policy of the government and the Christian churches. He lost the connection with his Cree language, culture, traditions, songs, ceremonies, rites of passage, and many other spiritual and cultural ways of living. Leo has dedicated his career to working with others in housing for over 40 years, on and off reserve.

The four main colors, red, yellow, white, and black, depict the four human races, directions, elements, stages of life, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and physical health. The green line represents Mother Earth, blue represents water. The symbols on the colors represent the First Nations, Metis, Inuit, and Canada. The shapes of the colors depict homes. The homes are pointing to the center, with all working together to provide homes for Indigenous people.
