In 2014, the Prince George Metis Housing Society inherited 106 rural and native housing units throughout north central and east British Columbia.
In 2010, there was a board and administration change within the Prince George Metis Housing Society and a new vision for the Society was established.
During this time, subsidies for subsidized housing had declined so it was important for the Society to shift its focus so that they could be sustainable.
Prince George Metis Housing started in a one-bedroom apartment building on Spruce Street with 19 homes.
As the Society grew with the need for housing in the area, the Society purchased 167 housing units in the Prince George region.
